System Requirements:The Bad Wrap™ Vehicle Graphic Design Templates are built for use specifically in Adobe Photoshop™. Use of the templates in any other design program will result in a lack of functionality by flattening the layers and/or transparency in the files. Photoshop Elements™ is not officially supported. There are no additional system requirements, but we do recommend using the fastest computer available to you, with at least 2GB of RAM installed.
How to use The Bad Wrap™ templates:
- Search the vehicle directory (found on disc 29) to find the vehicle you need. Copy that folder to your desktop or desired storage location.
- Open the template you wish to begin designing. We recommend starting with a side view so you can provide a proof to your customer and get art approval before designing the other views.
- Design your wrap within the "Design Layers" group, colored green. If you accidentally add layers within or above the red "Template Layers", simply drag them down into the green group. You may design directly within the template, or design elements in other files or programs and then drag and drop them into The Bad Wrap template to assemble the design.
- Once your design is complete, you can begin outputting print files. Keeping the maximum print width of your printer and/or material in mind, crop and save out panels for your wrap.
- Always try to choose an approach that will yield a seamless install. For example, an average pickup will have one print file for the fender, one for the door (vertical), and one for the bed (horizontal). It would also require one for the hood, the roof and the tailgate, and of course the other side of the truck. Just remember, the goal is a seamless install, so imagine Actually applying the panels as you crop them out.
- Duplicate your design file before creating print files to avoid accidentally flattening or permanently cropping your original design.
- IMPORTANT: Always include at least 4" of excess vinyl, or bleed, in your panels. Get used to using the rulers, measurement tool, guides and the crop tool in Photoshop to ensure your panels are cropped accurately with sufficient bleed before you print and risk wasting materials.
It's important to understand that The Bad Wrap templates are built to 1/10th scale, at a resolution of 720ppi. This is for one purpose only, and that is to allow you to use effects and filters at an appropriate scale for designing. For example, applying a bevel in a full-scale template would result in a very tiny beveled edge, and you would reach the end of the "Size" slider before you had enough of a bevel. In 1/10th scale, this same slider would operate within a usable range, allowing you plenty of bevel, because we've re-scaled the vehicle into a range that works with Photoshop's built-in effects.
IMPORTANT: Because The Bad Wrap templates are 1/10th scale, you must RIP at 1000% scale within your RIP program. This will trade the extra resolution for increased size, changing the file from 10% @ 720ppi to 100% @ 72ppi. This will result in an output print resolution of 72dpi, an industry standard resolution for large format printing.
